International Walk to School Day
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 19th
Walk, bike, skip or hop to school... but don't drive!
International Walk to School Day is taking place at both McParland Main Site and Annex. Schools around the world are participating in WALK-TO-SCHOOL during the month October.
S.H.A.P.E. and Nutritional Services are joining up with thousands of other schools nationwide/worldwide for Walk to School Day. Once again, McParland School will be participating in the event and we hope that all families will do their best to WALK TO SCHOOL. Help promote safer streets, healthier students, stronger communities, and a cleaner environment.
Participating students must walk to school and stop at one of the designated checkpoints to receive a sticker for a complimentary nutritious breakfast in the school cafeteria after the walk. Each student will need a sticker to receive breakfast on Tuesday, October 19th.
A flyer with more information will be coming home with your student.
KNIGHT-A-THON
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5th
This is our main fundraiser for the year. The money raised is used for our students for field trips, assemblies, books & materials for classrooms, and more! For those who are new to McParland, this is an event where students & teachers (and parents, too) walk or jog around a designated track during school hours. Prior to the walk, students recruit pledges from sponsors (friends, family, businesses). Information packets will be sent home with your child. We will need parent volunteers to help with this event. If you are interested in leading or joining the Knight-A-Thon volunteer team, please email us. Thank you!
Join us on FACEBOOK.
**NEW** Facebook is a great Social network to keep informed with the Community Club.
McParland STUDENT STORE
Our Student Store is open again this year. We have new items geared towards our Jr. High students, too. The store will be open before school, the first Tuesday at the Annex and the third Thursday at the Main Site. [Subject to change] Check our website for more information.
THANK YOU Parents and Students!! A huge thank you to our wonderful parents for helping with our Back to School Packets, before School even started; for both our students and parents helping with our Back to School Night and BBQ; for the Mix-Bag Fundraiser; for our Welcome Back Breakfast for our staff and for covering the shifts at our Student Store. Plus, many more of you are helping in the classrooms as well as in the office. McParland is a better place because of you. Thank you for all that you do!

McParland Clothes Closet
We are in need of a volunteer(s) to come in and oversee/open our Clothes Closet. If you can help us with this, please contact us. The Clothes Closet is the latest trend, where schools have made available to students, gently used clothing at no charge. Whether you are looking to make an exchange, or simply need to add a few things to your child’s wardrobe, we are here for you. Please email us if you have children clothing to donate or if you are in need of some items. Once we are able to open the store, we will keep you posted by email and our new McParland Community Club facebook.
